MONTEREY BAY SANCTUARY: FISHES
MAPS AND GRAPHS
Black rockfish This page provides maps and graphs of data collected on fishes in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

DFG Fishing Study
fishes The California Department of Fish and Game's Central California Marine Sport Fish Survey (Refugia Project) conducted fishery-independent hook-and-line fishing surveys along the central California coast in nearshore waters, adjacent to kelp beds and over rocky reefs, from 1978 to 1998. Data summaries and maps have been compiled into an easy-access format.

Maps of Rockfish Distribution in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
To view a map of distribution for a particular species of rockfish, select from the list at left. These maps were provided by GIS data from the California Department of Fish and Game Marine Region.

Species Richness of Demersal Rockfish
fishes The information on this map identifies areas with a high number of rockfish species. The highest rockfish concentrations were observed along the edge between the slope and shelf, emphasizing the importance of these areas to rockfish. Data were derived from National Marine Fisheries shelf and slope trawls from 1977 to 2001.
