The Santa Cruz Sea Glass & Ocean Art Festival returns back to the Boardwalk Cocoanut Grove November 6 and 7, 2010 from 10 AM to 5 PM! The Art Festival was a huge success in 2009, drawing more than 2,400 visitors and raising more than $10,000 in donations to ocean conservation.
Krista Hammond–creator, promoter and owner of Santa Cruz Sea Glass–continues the ocean conservation theme and will be donating 10% of admission sales from the event to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. Admission is $3 at the door (cash only). A total of 38 artists will be presenting at the event and a $500 First Prize will be awarded to the winner of the “Prize Piece Contest” held on Sunday, November 7.
Krista’s idea for the Festival was fostered through her partnership with the Foundation. Krista approached the Foundation in 2008, with the idea of partnering somehow to help support the ocean. The Sea Glass & Ocean Art Festival is an extension of Krista’s desire to have a “party with a purpose.” This festival highlights ocean related art while donating a portion of sales to protect the very ocean that has inspired or created that art.
